SocialConnect on HPA’s Alumni Site

We’ve added a new feature to the HPA Alumni Web site—SocialConnect for Facebook. The SocialConnect add-on uses the Facebook Connect technology, allowing alumni to sign-in to the private alumniu online community using their Facebook credentials (username/password). Once signed in, HPA alumni have the option to post updates to their personal Facebook wall when they perform any of the following actions within our private community:

• Post or comment on community blogs
• Post or comment on group blogs
• Post or comment on personal blogs
• Upload photos to a group gallery
• Upload photos to their personal galleries
• Promote an event they see on alumni.hpa.edu
• Promote a donation fund they see on alumni.hpa.edu
• Update their personal profiles
• Post personal files or links
• Post job openings within the career center
• Update their resumés within their personal profiles
• Comment on news they have read on alumni.hpa.edu
• Post to a community forum
• Post to a group forum

How does someone sign-in to the Web site using their Facebook username/password?
The member clicks on the blue Facebook Connect icon instead of using the standard username and password blocks, and a small pop-up appears that allows them to login using their Facebook credentials.

How would a member post content on the Web site that would appear on their Facebook wall?
The member is presented with the option of posting a link to the photo on the wall of his/her Facebook profile.

Is the content still secure within the community if members use SocialConnect?
Yes, though a member's Facebook wall may feature links to content on HPA’s private community, access to private content is controlled by the site’s security settings. To access private content, individuals must be registered and approved members of the alumni site.
