Anyone who graduated from or attended HPA is entitled to membership in the Association and is encouraged to participate in its activities and programs. There are no membership dues. Currently there are more than 2,500 members scattered throughout the world. The names and addresses of alumni are maintained by the Alumni Affairs Office.

The Association is governed by a 16-member Executive Committee comprised of representatives from a wide range of classes. The president also sits as a voting member on the HPA Board of Governors and attends all board meetings.

The Executive Committee meets quarterly to plan and implement programs sponsored by the Association. These programs include: career mentoring, the young alumni college forum, and volunteering as recruiters and interviewers for the admission office. The Executive Committee, together with many other alumni volunteers, also conducts fund-raising activities such as the Headmaster's Cup golf tournament, the football concession booth, selling logo items and Dick Solmssen's classical guitar CDs. The Alumni Association sponsors a scholarship endowment fund at HPA that annually aids a student at the Academy. In addition, the Association presents two student leadership awards, a school community service award, an outstanding alum award, and faculty service awards.
